SG Researchers' TC4 proposals selected

The long anticipated announcement of proposals selection for participation in the 2007 NASA Tropical Composition, Cloud, and Climate Coupling (TC4) campaign (ROSES 2006 NNH06ZDA001N-ACGUAM) came out last week with good news for members of the Earth Science Division (Code SG). Four proposals were selected: one each submitted by Paul Bui, Eric Jensen, Max Loewenstein, and Leonhard Pfister (SGG). A proposal by Henry Selkirk of the Bay Area Environmental Research Institute was also selected. Additionally, two other proposals in collaboration with outside organizations were selected (Warren Gore with University of Colorado and James Podolske with Langley Research Center). Only one proposal was turned down. Congratulations to all the winners. The Ames Earth Science Project Office (ESPO) will manage the TC4 campaign. See the following URL for more information on TC4: http://www.espo.nasa.gov/tc4/ . (POC: Warren Gore, 4-5533, wgore@mail.arc.nasa.gov)

D. Bubenheim and USDA management discuss national rangeland program

David Bubenheim (SGE) met with USDA-ARS National Program Managers and Research Leaders at the Society of Rangeland Management Symposium, Feb. 15, in Reno, NV. In conjunction with the Bureau of Land Management, USDA plans to initiate a national program in rangeland management that would include global change and invasive species impacts on ecosystems. In these early discussions, NASA Ames is considered as a partnering institution to contribute expertise in remote sensing, ecosystem science and modeling, and information technology.
