Large-scale Biosphere-atmosphere experiment in Amazonia (LBA)
The Brazilian-led Large scale Biosphere-atmosphere experiment in Amazonia (LBA) is being carried out in the Amazon region throughout 2001. The LBA-Ecology (ECO) mission is designed to better understand cycles of water, energy, carbon and nutrients, resulting from the changes in Amazonian vegetation cover, and associated climatic and environmental consequences at local, regional, and global scales. LBA-ECO is sponsored by NASA and conducted in collaboration with the government of Brazil and many other international partners.
