Current Research: Coral Reef Ecosystem Health and Biodiversity: Quantify the relationship between coral reef ecosystem optical properties and coral reef ecosystem health using radiative transfer modeling, in situ spectra, and hyperspectral remote sensing data. Investigate the spatial and spectral scale appropriate for delineating healthy and degraded coral reef communities. Research interests in upstream land use and agriculture burning and downstream impacts on reefs.inuous hyperspatial remote sensing data and microclimate surfaces.


Recent Research: Amazon Land Cover Change and Biogeochemistry: Investigation of alternatives to slash and burn agriculture, water relations, and carbon dynamics in Northeastern Amazon in the state of Pará, NASA Ames Research Center, April 2000- present. Estimation of biomass burning emissions and carbon and nutrient pool losses associated with land cover change in Rondônia, Brazil between 1984-1992. Oregon State University, August 1995-April 2000.
