Steve Hipskind participates in Ames Congressional Day
Bryan Biegel, Chris Henze and Steve Hipskind (Chief, SG) gave a presentation on climate change, Earth system modeling and visualization for the Ames Congressional Day, May 4. Hipskind's talk focused on NASA's space based and airborne observation and analysis capability and, specifically, the regional climate change impact studies being conducted at Ames. Biegel and Henze gave an overview of Columbia and the high end computing capability at Ames, which included some examples of model visualization on the hyperwall facility. INL representatives visit Ames
Ames hosted visitors from the Idaho National Lab (INL) on May 7. Mark Ankeny and Sam Alessi from INL and Lauren Rosenthal from the local Batelle office met with Steve Hipskind, Chris Potter and Randy Berthold of the Earth Science Division, and Matt Hancher of Intelligent Systems. Hancher presented INL's concept for developing a means of providing economic value and visualization of "ecosystem services", and the societal benefit, such as clean water or carbon sequestration, of a particular type of land use.
