SGE staff attend USDA workshop on specialty crops
Lee Johnson (CSUMB/SGE) and Vern Vanderbilt (SGE) were invited attendees at a USDA workshop, “Engineering Solutions for Specialty Crop Challenges,” held April 24-25 in Arlington, VA. The purpose of the meeting was to identify key industry issues and to scope engineering solutions in the form of precision agriculture, sensors/sensor webs, robotics and information systems. Based in part upon the report of this workshop, the Secretary of Agriculture plans to propose a Specialty Crop Research Initiative for inclusion in the Administration's FY08 USDA budget request. SGE hosts TFRSAC meeting
The Biospheric Sciences branch (SGE) hosted the Tactical Fire Remote Sensing Advisory Committee (TFRSAC) meeting last week. The TFRSAC is composed of personnel from the federal and state wildfire management agencies (USFS, BLM) as well as personnel from NASA-Ames, Goddard, and various university partners. The meeting was organized by the Vince Ambrosia (CSUMB/SGE), the WRAP project PI. It highlighted completed activities of late FY2006 and 2007. Additionally, attendees determined task objectives for 2007. (POC: Vince Ambrosia, 4-6565, vambrosia@mail.arc.nasa.gov )

Liane Guild attends Ocean Color Research Team Meeting
