The mission of the Atmospheric Physics Branch (SGP) is to advance the scientific knowledge and understanding of the physical processes that determine the behavior of the atmosphere on earth and other solar system bodies by conducting peer-reviewed experimental and theoretical research in aerosol and cloud microphysics, atmospheric modeling, atmospheric radiation, and high resolution infrared spectroscopy with the main focus on current environmental and climatic issues. By utilizing leading-edge and information technologies, we have developed world-class instrumentation, and research techniques to implement our research goal.

The branch is organized into four research groups to effectively respond to the research goals of the different NASA Strategic Enterprises.
