Figure 11. General Description: This scenario assumes that the target haze/dark water begins 100 nm or less off the coast of Wallops Island, and that there are discontinuous haze layers from very low altitudes up to 15,000 ft. The ER-2 and C130 take off early; the first two "stacks" are with these 2 aircraft only. Then the C131 and Pelican arrive on station, the C131 steps down through the haze layers. The ER-2 and Pelican "orbit" during this time. The C-130 begins upward steps as the C-131 starts down. After the other 3 aircraft have left the area, the C130 may conduct further research (determined by the C130 science team).
