Retrieval of aerosol optical depth and size from C130 radiometer multi-wavelength angular scattering measurements. There is the option to use the phase function implied by this to calculate the backscatter ratio as given by C131 nephelometer measurements. We haven't tried this yet but this may expand to include other authors, e.g. Hobbs etc.

Calculation of direct aerosol radiative forcing from the C130 data and comparison of this with the Edwards-Slingo shortwave model. The chemical composition resulting from the analysis of the UW C131 filter samples is as the basis for calculating the refractive indices and hence single scatter parameters as input to the radiative transfer model. Aerosol particle size distributions, implied humidity growth factors and absorption coefficients from the C130 are also used to constrain the input data to the model.
