  • Study radiative effects and controlling processes of anthropogenic aerosols from Europe and desert dust from Africa as they are transported over the North Atlantic Ocean
  • 250 research scientists
  • 60 coordinated aircraft missions with 6 aircraft (for a total of 450 flight hours), one ship, and ground stations on Tenerife, Portugal and Madeira.

  • AATS-6: 6 channels (380-1020 nm) on R/V Vodyanitsky
    • Spectral Aerosol Optical Depth, H 2 O
  • AATS-14: 14 channels (380-1558 nm) on CIRPAS Pelican aircraft
    • Spectral Aerosol Optical Depth, H 2 O, O 3
    • 21 flights (11 good , 3 medium, 7 bad or no data)
    • Calibration by airborne Langley plots (4 flights)
    • Quad Chart of AATS-14, Pelican A/C, and sample data updated 10/13/1999
