ENVISAT-1 is a European Space Agency satellite launched 1 March 2002. The sensors of interest to health studies are Advanced Along Track Scanning Radiometer (AATSR), Advanced Radar Altimeter (RA-2), Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (ASAR), and Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS). This satellite has a polar, circular, sun-synchronous 782-km orbit with a 35-day repeat cycle. RA-2 is a radar altimeter for monitoring ocean topography. ASAR's swath width is 400 km, while MERIS's swath width is 1150 km.
