Sensor Specifications: CBERS

The first China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite (CBERS) was launched in October 1999, and the second (CBERS-2) was launched in October 2003. The satellites have a polar, circular, sun-synchronous 778-km orbit and carry three imaging sensors: Wide Field Imager (WFI), a high resolution CCD camera, and an infrared multispectral sensor (IR-MSS). The CCD and IR-MSS have a 120km field of view and have a repeat cycle of 26 days, while the WFI width is 900km so repeats very 3-5 days.
