Sensor Specifications: ADEOS-II

The second Advanced Earth Observing Satellite, ADEOS-II, was launched on 14 December 2002; its initial verification phase lasted until mid-April 2003. Please see the ADEOS page for information on the original satellite. The satellite failed in late October 2003. During its short life, the satellite had a polar, circular, sun-synchronous 800-km orbit with a 4-day repeat cycle. ADEOS-II carried the following sensors: Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer (AMSR), Global Imager (GLI), Sea Winds (SeaWinds), Polarization and Directionality of the Earth's Reflectances (POLDER), and Improved Limb Atmospheric Spectrometer-II (ILAS-II). GLI was the only imaging sensor for earth observation.
