Malaria Characteristics




Infectious agent: Plasmodium spp.; development of parasite within the vector may be associated with air temperature

Vector: Anopheline mosquitoes, which feed at dusk, during the night, or in the early morning hours; require water for egg-laying; bloodmeal preferences, as well as resting habitats (i.e., indoor vs. outdoor) vary by species; distribution of species may be dependent on elevation
