Infectious agent: Hantavirus genus

Transmission: Aerosolized rodent excreta presumed; cases in the Four Corners area reported in years of above-average rodent populations, possibly in response to increased food sources following wet years

Reservoir: Primarily Peromyscus maniculatus (deer mouse), although other rodents also implicated
