cALIbRATION AND vALIDATION
Field sampling is collected for calibration of airborne remote sensing data. For example, there is a need to correct for atmospheric effects (water vapor, particulates, etc.) and water column effects (turbitity, sun glint). We use hand-held instruments to collect this kind of data. Further, we collect data on reflectance from coral reef bottom types, measurements of percent cover of various bottom types, and rugosity (measure of morphological heterogeneity).
