Project Plan

Figure 1 imageOur Implementation Plan focuses on three specific thrusts: 1) A Research and Development element related to fire imaging. 2) An application, demonstration, and validation element, and 3) A technology transfer infusion element. This proposed effort demonstrates a process of user input into the required R&D foci and services provided by NASA, as well as a feedback on the demonstration, utility, and potential integration of those NASA-derived technologies. This "feed-back" loop ensures successful integration into the fire community decision support system. The Forest Service (end-user / customer), through the creation of a Tactical Fire Remote Sensing Steering Committee TFRSSC), will help define primary focus elements of the NASA-lead research and development efforts. By partnering with the Forest Service, we ensure that NASA provides the critical R&D elements necessary for successful implementation of a tactical wildfire disaster assessment and management system.
