16 August 2007 - First Mission of Western States UAV Fire Imaging Mission Series
The first mission will tentatively occur on 16 August 2007 with a UAV launch from NASA-Dryden Flight Research Center at approximately 6:00 AM PDT. After reachin g altitude (23,000 feet), the aircraft will leave the NASA-DFRC / EAFB range area and enter the National Airspace. The flight profile for the mission is shown in t he adjacent graphic. The mission endurance is planned for ~10-hours, allowing linger time over each of the fires identified in the graphic. The mission entirety ca n be monitored and viewed through the Collaborative Decision Environment (CDE), using the GoogleEarth visualization client.
